Christmas Lights on the Air is a Ham radio contest the runs 2 days before and after Christmas Day, inclusing December 25th.

1. No repeaters may be used (except for satellites).
2. Contacts must be made within the amateur radio spectrum.
3. RoIP protocols may not be used (DMR, YSF, D-Star, if connected through an internet linked device such as a hotspot or repeater).
4. All contacts must be made with some form of Christmas lights.
5. Stations may only be worked once per band.
6. Contacts made outside the contest window will not be scored.
7. Remote stations are not allowed.
8. Bands included in the contest are 2200m through 23cm.
9. Station classes will be as follows: 10 watts or under will be low power class, 100 watts to 500 watts will be "barefoot", and >500 watts will be QRO.
- 1 point for each normal contact.
- 2 points for each QRP contact (10 watts or less).
- 3 points for each satellite contact.
- 1.5 points for each contact made on an LED light set.
- 1.5x multiplier for each emergency power contact.
- 5 points for each "CLOTA to CLOTA"
- One time point 20 bonus for making a contact with "Santa" (KI6NAZ).
The official exchange will be grid, signal report.
If you're using FT8, you must include CQ COTA in the free text box.
Logs must be submitted no later than 1 week following the close of the contest. Accepted log formats will be Cabrillo, Spreadsheets, and scanned paper logs. You can follow this link to submit your logs.
